2017 State Roundtable

The 2017 State Roundtable was held in May 2017 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.  The Roundtable is chaired by the Honorable Max Baer, PA Supreme Court and Cathy Utz, Deputy Secretary, Office of Children Youth and Families, PA Department of Human Services.  Members in attendance included representation from the following partner agencies: Administrative Office of PA Courts; Office of Children and Families in the Courts; Department of Drugs & Alcohol Programs; Department of Mental Health and; PA Department of Education.  Dependency judges and child welfare administrators representing all 67 counties, juvenile dependency hearing officers, attorneys and other invited stakeholders were also in attendance. During the meeting, members unanimously agreed upon the creation of the Family Engagement Initiative.   The Family Engagement Initiative will be designed to assist selected counties in enhancing quality Legal Representation, Family Finding efforts and Crisis/Rapid Response Team Meetings.

During the 2017 State Roundtable meeting the following State Roundtable Workgroups were disbanded as they achieved their mission/goals established by the State Roundtable:

  • Permanency Practice Initiative Workgroup
  • Dependent Children of Incarcerated Parents Workgroup
  • Educational Success and Truancy Prevention Workgroup
