2014 State Roundtable Report
“Visitation is a Right, not a Privilege” report to the State Roundtable. The 2014 Visitation Workgroup report provides the final tools, created by the efforts of its members, to enhance visitation. Through collaboration with the Department of Human Services and Child Welfare Resource Center, the child welfare visitation training curriculum, 209 Visitation: Permanency, Positive Connections and Reducing Trauma, was revised and finalized. In addition, this report provides the remaining visitation handbooks, including “What’s Happening with Visitation?” an activity book for children, in out-of-home care; the Pennsylvania Teen Visitation Handbook and the Pennsylvania Resource Parent Handbook. Finally, the Power Point used during the 2014 statewide “Visitation and the Courts” training, Hand in Hand: Building the Bridge to Stay Connected, is contained within this report. 2013 State Roundtable Report
“Visitation is a Right, not a Privilege” report to the State Roundtable. The 2013 Visitation Workgroup report provides three tools to assist counties in determining the appropriate level of oversight to use for visitation. As Component 10, visitation oversight completed the Visitation Best Practice Key Components. Due to the critical nature of safety that must be considered when determining the level of oversight, workgroup members spent an entire year researching and compiling the best practice recommendation. In addition to the completion of the 10 Pennsylvania Visitation Best Practice Key Components, this report contains Six Key Operating Principals for Determining Oversight and the guideline Oversight and Support Matrix. 2012 State Roundtable Report
“Visitation is a Right, not a Privilege” report to the State Roundtable. The 2012 Visitation Workgroup report includes efforts of the Workgroup to begin creating tools for counties wanting to examine and enhance their visitation practices. Tools included in this report include purpose, rationale and performance benchmarks for Visitation Best Practice Key Components; a Frequency and Duration Guide for Visitation and a Parent Visitation Handbook.. 2011 State Roundtable Report
“Visitation is a Right, not a Privilege” report to the State Roundtable. The 2011 Visitation Workgroup report begins to examine the important areas surrounding parent visitation when a child has been placed outside of the home. Through the efforts of the Workgroup, information obtained through research and practice analysis, is provided throughout the report on why visitation is important; the benefits of visitation to the parent and child; findings around frequency, duration, location and oversight of visitation and the court’s role in enhancing visitation.
