2017 State Roundtable Report
In May 2017, the Pennsylvania State Roundtable unanimously adopted the Workgroup’s report and recommendations. The State Roundtable approved the Workgroup’s newest product Family-Centered Case Management: Roles, Tips & Resources for Child Welfare Caseworkers, Probation Officers and Parole Agents to work together toward stronger families and better outcomes. The Report also includes a full evaluation of the Workgroup’s efforts, products and resources from 2011-2017 and highlights 7 counties that are working to improve experiences for dependent children and their incarcerated parents. This is the final report of the Dependent Children of Incarcerated Parents Workgroup. The 2017 State Roundtable determined that the Workgroup has fulfilled its mission and goals. 2016 State Roundtable Report
In May 2016, the Pennsylvania State Roundtable unanimously adopted the Workgroup’s report and recommendations. The 2016 Recommendations include: an evaluation of the Workgroup’s efforts and the impact of outreach to Local Children’s Roundtables and other stakeholders; continuing to support data collection efforts; continuing to collaborate with system partners and; developing a joint resource for child welfare and corrections/parole professionals to foster better collaboration in serving and supporting families. 2015 State Roundtable Report
In May 2015, the Pennsylvania State Roundtable once again unanimously adopted the workgroup report and recommendations including enhancing data collection, developing a process plan to evaluate the Workgroup’s efforts, continuing to support collaborative efforts with cross systems partners and providing support and trainings upon request to counties. 2014 State Roundtable Report
In May 2014, the Pennsylvania State Roundtable once again unanimously adapted the workgroup report and recommendations including the approval of the finalized educational video for judges and legal professionals and the continued support of the development for both the PA Child Welfare Resource Center Engaging Incarcerated Parents training curriculum and SWAN LSI Incarceration Toolkit. The Workgroup plans to continue collaborative efforts with the PA Department of Corrections, PA Board of Probation and Parole and other stakeholders to address statewide systemic issues. 2013 State Roundtable Report
In May 2013, the Pennsylvania State Roundtable once again unanimously adopted the workgroup report and recommendations including training for judicial officers and child welfare professionals, data collection, revisions to the Pennsylvania Dependency Benchbook to include this topic and further collaboration among courts, childwelfare and prisons. 2012 State Roundtable Report
In May 2012 the Pennsylvania State Roundtable unanimously adopted “Dependent Children of Incarcerated Parents: A Report to the Pennsylvania State Roundtable.” The report includes a series of recommendations surrounding engagement of incarcerated parents, visitation, coordination and delivery of services, hearing participation and data collection.
